Lavender Syrup (makes about 4 cups)

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cook time: 10 minutes

Cool time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of sugar, granulated

  • 2 cups of water, filtered

  • 3 tablespoons of dried lavender flowers (see note)


Lavendar simple syrup can be used on a variety of ways.

Instructions:

In a medium-sized saucepan, add all your ingredients and cook on medium heat. Stir continuously.

Once the mixture starts to boil, remove it from the heat. Should take about 8-10 to come to a boil.




Allow the mixture to cool and flavors to continue to incorporate in the saucepan for about 5 minutes.



Place a mesh strain over a glass jar. Pour into the strain to separate the lavender syrup from the lavender flowers.

Discard the flowers.



Allow the syrup to cool completely before placing a lid on it.

Store the lavender simple syrup in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.



Use Fresh or Dried Lavender Flowers

You can use fresh or dried lavender flowers for this recipe. When using fresh lavender flowers, it's important that your flowers have not opened. The most aromatic qualities come from fully purple flowers with tightly wrapped buds.
