We are beyond excited to announce that we are expanding! If you asked us a month ago what was happening at Sugar Water Manor and Sugar Water Farm we would have said seeding for the garden… But we are thrilled to announce today WE ARE EXPANDING!
As many of you know we have been looking for a space in the town of Princess Anne to expand to include a restaurant for many years. In 2022 we put in an offer to purchase the historic Washington Inn and Tavern. At that time the parties involved were still figuring things out.
The first week of Feburary this year we were asked to attend a Town Commissioners meeting to show support as business owners and historic home owners to keep the building rented until the town found a buyer. We joined a committee to help the town find some solutions with no thoughts of putting in a second offer. But...
We went home and over the next two weeks talked between ourselves about the property, opportunities and needs for the community. Feburary 20, 2024 we presented letter of intent to the Town of Princess Anne Commissioners and on March 4th a purchase aggreeement. We met with the State for their blessings and on March 7th over 60 community members and business owners showed up to show support for us to buy the building.
Today, March 27, 2024 we signed the papers and are now the owners of the historic Washington Inn and Tavern.
Built in the late 1700s, the establishment has been an anchor in the Town of Princess Anne for nearly 280 years. Located in the heart of the Main Street Princess Anne District, the property is integral to ongoing revitalization efforts. Over the next few weeks, we will be working diligently to make some immediate repairs and upgrades.
We will be re-branding the current name to reflect our brand and are excited to announce The Washington Hotel and Sugar Water.
The Washington Hotel will be a 10 room Bed and Breakfast and Sugar Water will be a full service restaurant specializing in fresh, local fare that is delicious, good for the soul and tells stories.
We are panning on a May 15, 2024 with a soft open.
